Pear Bear

Hi, my name is Perry and I'm a Green Anjou Pear

I was raised in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Did you know that Oregon and Washington are the two highest pear-growing states in the country? Yep, they are! If you look on a map and find Wenatchee and Yakima in Washington state, and Hood River and Medford in Oregon state, you'll see where USA Pears are grown.

I like to play soccer and read about extreme sport athletes. I know athletes need to be very healthy to stay so active, so I make sure to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. It may seem like a lot, but it's pretty easy to do once you get used to it! Do you know what a serving size of fruit is? For pears, a serving size is a pear about the size of a baseball.

During the school year, I like to come home and eat a pear snack and get my homework done so I can practice soccer or play video games until dinner. On weekends, when I don't have a soccer game, I like to hang out with my friends.

Perry's favorite hobbies (besides playing soccer):

Run, exercise, play video games, skateboard with friends, read sports magazines, play sports (baseball, football and basketball are all fun!), and of course go "peara-chuting".

Perry's favorite foods:

Fruits and vegetables (celery sticks with peanut butter, apples, oranges and grapes are tops!), pizza, mozzarella sticks, juice, mac and cheese, tomato salad.

Perry's favorite subject in school:

Reading (to read about athletes), science (because it's extreme!) and math. Gym/PE is also one of the best because Perry is a sports nut!

Perry likes to say:

"Use it, don't bruise it!"
"Cool dude!"
"Totally awesome"
"That's extreme!"
"What's up?"
