Hi, my name is Bosco and I'm a Bosc Pear!
I’ve grown up in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Oregon and Washington grow more pears than any other part of the country. That’s pretty cool isn’t it? If you get a map of the Northwest and find Wenatchee and Yakima in Washington, and Hood River and Medford in Oregon, you’ll see the main areas where USA Pears are grown. Bosc is pronounced BAHsk. I like to play basketball and baseball and I’m learning how to do karate! I also like to read about the history of sports in the United States.
Camping is one of my favorite things to do on vacation. I know that to be really healthy to stay in good physical condition, I need to try to eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables a day. That may seem like a lot, but it’s not once you know what a serving size is! Do you know what a serving size of fruit is? For pears, a serving size is a pear about the size of a baseball.
During the school year, I like to snack on fresh pears and other fruits and veggies while I finish my homework. I like to dip my pears into peanut butter, granola or caramel too! When my homework is done, I like to play games on my computer and play hoops in the backyard with my friends until dinner. On weekends, I like to play at the park and go to the library to look up sport history.
Bosco's favorite hobbies (besides basketball and baseball): Playing hockey, Swimming, Running and karate! I also like to play video games when it’s raining outside.
Bosco's favorite foods: Grilled Cheese sandwich, honeydew melon, fruits and veggies, pizza, yogurt and tuna.
Bosco's favorite subject in school: Science, so I can find out what different foods do to the body, and to fix computers and maybe go to the moon someday! I also like social studies because I can learn about the history of sports and people.
Bosco likes to say:
“That’s ice cool”
“Spice it up man!”
“Score!”
“You rock”
“That’s stellar!”
“Stemtacular!”
